Ingredients
- 9 tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
- 6 teaspoons sweet almond oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- A few drops of watermelon oil
- A few drops of lime oil
- A few drops of raspberry oil
- Red, green, and blue food coloring
Equipment Needed
- 3 mixing bowls (one for each color)
- Measuring spoons
- Measuring cups
- Spoon or spatula
- 8-ounce wide-mouth jar (e.g., Kerr jar)
Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Oils
In a bowl, for each color, combine 3 tablespoons of fractionated coconut oil and 2 teaspoons of sweet almond oil.
Step 2: Add the Sugar
Mix 1/3 cup granulated sugar into each bowl of oil, until well combined.
Step 3: Add Scents and Colors
- To the first bowl, add a few drops of watermelon oil and red food coloring.
- For the second bowl, use lime oil and green food coloring.
- For the third bowl, incorporate raspberry oil and blue food coloring.
Stir each bowl until colors are evenly incorporated.
Step 4: Layer the Scrub
Tip the 8-ounce jar to the side, and carefully spoon in the sugar scrub, one color wound at a time. You’ll be designing a fun, snow cone-like look!
Step 5 (Optional ): Decorate the Jar
Close jar securely and decorate with ribbon, a label, or tag for gift giving.
Notes
How to Use
- Use ¼ teaspoon and rub in circular motion on moist skin.
- Though be sure to exfoliate areas such as the elbows, knees and feet.
- Rinse with warm water and pat your skin dry.
⚠️ Warning: The oils in this recipe can leave your shower or tub slippery. Use with care!
Storage Tips
- The shelf life for the scrub is 3-6 months if it is unopened and kept in a cool dry place.
- If opened, always assure clean and dry hands are used to avoid moisture, which can decrease shelf life to around 2-3 weeks.
